I got one for Christmas. I took a lot of reviews with a grain of salt. This thing is worth it! Only thing I hated was the Google ads but I installed a custom launcher and was able to disable the default Home Screen by running some ADB commands from my CMD Prompt to the device. So much better now

Long story short: this is the only streaming device who CAN and it WILL output Atmos True Hd and Dts Hd Ma! The other option is a blu-ray player, if you have blu ray discs. I'm not talking about the atmos from the streaming services like Netflix, Prime, Disney +, Hbo Max, that is not true hd. Dolby Atmos can be embedded inside of either Dolby TrueHD (lossless) or Dolby Digital Plus (lossy).

Still got the 2015 version, increased memory with a USB stick, never had any problems or issues at all. It's been excellent. The only thing I can criticize is that you don't get the full Google Play Store. But, I have survived .... Easily.

Great video. I recently purchased this and the top tier $99/6 month GeForce Now subscription for gaming through Steam. I regret it. That’s $300 already and the available game selection is extremely limited compared to my 200+ Steam library. And that doesn’t Include the cost of a keyboard and mouse, which IS required for most of the Steam games. A controller can be used, you WILL need a keyboard and mouse to game on it. By the time it’s all said and done, you’ve paid the same price as a XSX/PS5, which does everything more and 100x better and that includes streaming legal content. This is just bringing the frustration of PC gaming to your couch. I do not recommend it.

I bought a chromecast 4th gen on April 2022 it works awesomeee I think shield is ok but I love my chromecast I play GeForce on it it works awesome

I use a Samsung S10 with DeX for that. It can do everything that a Shield can do.

Had 2017 one but switched to Apple TV until they add 4K UI and automatic frame rate matching. Apple TV has both so works better if mostly use stuff like Netflix and like to see high quality cover art in the UI. Keep checking for updates cause will get another as backup device and for emulation one day.

Just upgraded to the Pro the other day. Plex works a LOT better with it, which that alone made it worth it.

The ShieldTV is a amazing box, my 2015 still gets updates, sadly no Dolby Vision so I dont use it anymore, but seriously best 200€ I have ever spend.
BUT currently I wouldn't buy a AndroidTV box that dont support AV1, that also includes the Google TV.
I hope they bring out a new version soon.

Going on 4 years old, the ‘19 Shield Pro lacks the onboard internal storage (16GB) and matching frame rate. I believe the ‘22 Apple TV (128GB) is a far better streamer for us who watch live tv and demand content on apps like DirecTv Stream, Paramount+, Prime, Tubi, Pluto etc. For those who desire Kodi, Plex, Side-loaded IPTV apps, then I can understand why people choose the Shield Pro. But Shield still needs an updated version to expand the low internal storage without having to insert & format an external SanDisk in one of the USB ports.

It's updated but the Tegra X1+ is still years behind Qualcomm' SD865. Not sure why Nividia didn't want to compete. Is Because they don't have to?

I live in Canada but lived in UK for years, can I get BBC, STV ITV etc? And is there a monthly fee associated with this? Sorry for stupid question I am new at this

My only question really is why they didnt release a new one this 2021. I was waiting for the latest upgrade, alas, it didnt came. Hopefully with future proofing specs too really on their next release, maybe this 2022?.

Ive tried them all Tivo, Roku, chromecast, kindle fire, nexus, apple. The Nvidia shield destroys them all for movies, youtube and the best for gaming easy

It’s a good streaming device I just don’t like the annoying ads.so I found a way too blocked the ads.
