Do you have to have the software to program? I'm only going to scan to about 20 or so channels?

Does it have programmable search ranges like the previous R5 did?

HAMs have always something to nag about. Most of them are outdated old and boring people (far.s) with no more to say than CB radio people did. CB radio is more interesting as people discuss all sorts of things. Since countless years I have a full HAM license and I do not know why I renew it every year. It is just an outdated hobby that is rather expensive as to the equipment and more or less a waste of time and money. I bought an ICOM IC-R6 for security reasons and that is fine. I also have some top of the range YAESU handheld transceivers for security reasons as well. Otherwise, HAM had its better days.

As a ham I have no use for the IC-R6 Sport
