What is the Rosetta Stone?

One of the most important artifacts in all Ancient History, the Rosetta Stone unlocked the entire world of Ancient Egypt. Until then knowledge of hieroglyphs had been lost; the last known inscription dated back to 394AD.

Its discovery and why it ended up in the British Museum is an equally fascinating tale of war, imperialism and discovery.
