so it’s funny because when i first learned how to pronounce her name i had been pronouncing it the way my friend who introduced me to her music says it, la fay. i was in the car with my dad visiting him for the summer IN ICELAND and he asked me how it’s spelled. i responded “it’s spelled like laufey (l-ow-fee)” and he asked how that was spelled. i spelled it out and he said “oh is she icelandic?” i said idk, googled it, and found out she’s half icelandic, like me, and half mandarin but living in the U.S. and cali, like me. he told me it was pronounced like how she said it and that day was pretty life changing for me. from that point after i started to realize that she had a song in icelandic and had several of her songs but also sung with the icelandic symphony. fun fact: she can speak english, icelandic, and mandarin.
