Cairo Egypt is our travel destination today. We head out on a crazy market hunt, having lots of fun shopping and chatting with locals and Egyptian food.

Egypt, a country linking northeast Africa with the Middle East, dates to the time of the pharaohs. Millennia-old monuments sit along the fertile Nile River Valley, including Giza's colossal Pyramids and Great Sphinx as well as Luxor's hieroglyph-lined Karnak Temple and Valley of the Kings tombs. The capital, Cairo, is home to Ottoman landmarks like Muhammad Ali Mosque and the Egyptian Museum, a trove of antiquities.

Cairo, Egypt’s sprawling capital, is set on the Nile River. At its heart is Tahrir Square and the vast Egyptian Museum, a trove of antiquities including royal mummies and gilded King Tutankhamun artifacts. Nearby, Giza is the site of the iconic pyramids and Great Sphinx, dating to the 26th century BC. In Gezira Island’s leafy Zamalek district, 187m Cairo Tower affords panoramic city views.

Khan el-Khalili (Arabic: خان الخليلي) is a famous bazaar and souq (or souk) in the historic center of Cairo, Egypt. Established as a center of trade in the Mamluk era and named for one of its several historic caravanserais, the bazaar district has since become one of Cairo's main attractions for tourists and Egyptians alike. It is also home to many Egyptian artisans and workshops involved in the production of traditional crafts and souvenirs. The name Khan el-Khalili historically referred to a single building in the area; today it refers to the entire shopping district.

Gogo is 1 tough negotiator. Tourism in egypt is down due to the war next door, so while it is great to bargain it is also ok for us westerners to pay a bit more than locals if we can afford it. Kay is right the perfumes are made from essential oils and they can duplicate most western perfumes.There are some things in the market you cant find in your local area, plus it is such a vibe. The area beside khan al khalili is called al mousky where a lot of textiles and herbs/spices are sold. Spices you can find at any attar..they are in every neighbourhood. No specific spice market like in istanbul. Go to the citadel mosque as well as sayidna hussein and sayida zaynab. Would be great to see the inside of them again. Old cairo's gateways have cafes where can enjoy tea or turkish coffee. You guys should take a cruise down the nile to aswan and luxor.

Dears if planning to get some spices I recommend you visit al Azhar street go and ask for ARAFA for spices also SALEH sones at the same street
You might go to the main specialized market for spices at Cairo at AL HUSIEN district ask for the street of Al hamzawy Al saghier (Al hamzawy small street)
There you will find all you admire of whatever spices you like and want not only for potatoes chips
