Most of them ABSOLUTELY know how to speak English. I used to work a job where 90% of the employees were Mexican and they would always act like they didn't know how to speak English to me, but whenever I was able to help them out or get them out of a jam or they wanted to something all of a sudden they are fluent in that shit. I worked QA in a factory in SoCal so believe me...I KNOW!

They wouldn't be so bad if they were happy for what ever you give them let's say a dollar but no they want at least 10 dollars! 10 for a photo! And most of the time they approach the tourists!

Although it is reprehensible what the people in costume do, I also have to wonder what's the appeal for the tourists to take pictures with them. They obviously look like cheap knock offs. I understand if they catch the attention of your kids and they won't stop being a pain in the ass until they get a pic with them, which it's one of the things these people exploit. However, I've seen a group of adults willingly take photos with them and pay them, which just keeps this cycle going.

Honestly, most of these costume characters, along with fake music artists/composers and fake monks, are no different from entitled e-beggars on Twitch when it comes to making donations a mandatory thing.

I was watching the livestream of new york times square and saw one of these costumes wearers RUN UP TO A CHILD, grabbed their hands to engage them while the mother walked of unknowingly that her child was just caught away from her. Anytime they see a kid, they get beelined by the lot.

I don't mind street performers, but clearly some of them are far to aggressive about it.

Why in the world are those characters even there? I mean, if I wanted to get a picture with Mickey Mouse and go to Disney land, not New York City I think they should take out the costume characters all together because times square is perfect as it is and people don’t need to fight with those characters every single day
