I've worked a year for the oil industry. Rachel's right, the don't know how to innovate. They don't even know how to work properly. That's why there's always huge disasters like Deepwater Horizon. This industry should be regulated as tightly as the FAA regulates air travel, instead there is nothing. And the only thing that matters to them is keeping NPT down. That's Non-Productive Time, as in "not pulling oil from the ground". If doing things properly will cause NPT, they will do things improperly. When I realized there was no changing that even in my tiny, tiny area of responsibility... I up and left. That's an industry which deserves every bad thing that will happen to it.

Excellent analysis, in Brazil, and in the state of Rio de Janeiro, oil and corruption also did corrupt democracy and bankrupt economy through corruption... but, worldwide, from Iran to Venezuela, the USA and British companies have played roles in this since early 1900s...

This woman is brilliant. She can explain the most complex things in the simplest terms. She belongs in government. She is smart and compassionate.

Corruption in the corporate world ? Corruption aided and abetted by powerful politicians ? - tell me it isn't so

If only this was restricted to Russia and its unfortunate neighbors. Corporate greed has no bounds, and money has no conscience.
