Young Scientist Quickfire Pitch: Siriphong Somprasong, University of Groningen

Nitrogen-bearing rings are common features in the molecular structures of modern drugs, with chiral δ-lactams being an important subclass due to their known pharmacological properties. Siriphong Somprasong, a PhD candidate in Homogenous Catalysis from the University of Groningen, demonstrated a new method for the catalytic dearomatization of pre-activated pyridine derivatives to yield chiral δ-lactams in his Young Scientist Presentation.
