JAXA’s H-II Transfer Vehicle “KOUNOTORI7” (HTV-7) departed the International Space Station on 7 November 2018. ISS Commander Alexander Gerst commanded the Canadarm2 robotic arm to release HTV-7 at 16:51 UTC, while Flight Engineer Serena Auñón-Chancellor communicated with the mission control.

For the first time, a small reentry capsule will be deployed from HTV-7. Designed by JAXA and assembled by the station crew, the conically shaped HTV Small Return Capsule (HSRC) is a technology demonstration designed to test JAXA’s ability to return small payloads from the station for expedited delivery to researchers.

The HTV-7 cargo spacecraft was launched by JAXA’s H-IIB Launch Vehicle No. 7 (H-IIB F7) from the Yoshinobu Launch Complex, at JAXA’s Tanegashima Space Center, Japan, on 22 September 2018, at 17:52 UTC (23 September 2018, at 02:52:27 Japan Standard Time – JST), and was captured with the International Space Station’s robotic Canadarm2 by NASA astronaut Drew Feustel, on 27 September 2018, at 11:34 UTC (07:34 EDT).

Sadly without the old ISS batteries (two cancelled spacewalks).
