The Mandalorian | Season 3: FINAL TRAILER (4K) | Disney+

According to the logline for season three, “The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.” Pedro Pascal returns as Din Djarin/The Mandalorian, who travels the galaxy with Grogu (AKA Baby Yoda). The cast also includes Katee Sackhoff, Weathers, Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow and Giancarlo Esposito.

Conversation about the trailer centered on such themes at seeing Din Djarin and Grogu reunited, as well as seeing Grogu use the Force.

In addition to showcasing new footage, Disney revealed the directors of season three Monday, including series alum Rick Famuyiwa, Black Panther cinematographer Rachel Morrison, Minari filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung, Mandalorian actor Carl Weathers, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse‘s Peter Ramsey and returning Mando director Bryce Dallas Howard.

Favreau once again serves as showrunner, executive producing alongside Dave Filoni, Famuyiwa, Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist and Carrie Beck co-executive produce.

In March 2022, Back to the Future actor Christopher Lloyd was revealed to be a guest star for the season, though details about his character are being kept secret.

An official synopsis for season 3 reads, "The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu."

The new season, as the trailers suggest, won’t just deal with the ramifications of Din Djarin de-masking in the Season 2 finale (“He took his helmet off. We've established that that's something that's not cool!”), but will explore the wider lore of Mandalorian culture as established in The Clone Wars. “We know what the history of Mandalore is and the Mandalorians from the stories Dave told with George [Lucas],” Favreau said. “That planet was a wasteland even before the Purge, because they were fighting and warring and there was civil war for centuries, and they were living in domed cities. And then those cities – that whole planet – got ravaged by the Empire that took advantage of their disunity. That, to me, was interesting.”

With further ties into the the animated series, and the fact that Grogu and Din’s story continued away from The Mandalorian in The Book Of Boba Fett, it does seem that Season 3 will introduce a little bit more complexity in the show’s approach to the Star Wars galaxy. But Favreau believes more casual viewers will keep up. “For people who didn't see The Book Of Boba Fett, we're gonna have videos that catch people up on it on [Disney+],” he confirmed. “And there's plenty of user-generated content [on the internet] helping people get up to speed, which is a tool that I use when I watch a show after it's been off the air for a while. It's not just the show – it's the community that surrounds the show. I learned through my experiences with Marvel how sophisticated the audiences are, and [they] inform one another and are paying close attention.” Seatbelts on, and blue macarons in hand, everyone – we’re about to blast off in the N-1 Starfighter for a fresh batch of adventures.

Just gonna put this here for all the room temp iq star wars fans replying below. Yes. Han and Poe exist. But they're just about it in all of the 40ish years of star wars. Good pilots have usually been jedi or sith and dont get alot of shine. I'm happy for deviations to that rule.

It was mentioned at some point, that that darksaber thing was made a 1000 years ago by a someone, who was both Jedi and Mandalorian. I believe this is a reference to what Grogu will become. A Jedi and a Mandalorian, above all Jedis and Mandalorians.

I have a theory. What if this could be setting up an adaptation of the original Thrawn trilogy. I mean last season Ahsoka dropped his name and they where establishing the the Empire was coming back. Now I haven’t read the books but their descriptions sort of fit with what’s happening in the shows right now. Even if Disney claims that those books aren’t cannon anymore doesn’t mean they can’t still pull some stuff from them.
