World's Largest Elephant Toothpaste Reaction - Guinness World Records

The team at KiwiCo have created the largest elephant toothpaste reaction in Los Angeles at 342.52 cubic metres.

The reaction is a solution comprised of hydrogen peroxide and detergent dish soap, all contained in a reactant vessel. A catalyst solution was then simultaneously combined via a pneumatically actuated catalyst deployment mechanism to create the reaction.

The decomposition of hydrogen peroxide instantaneously commences, forming the elephant toothpaste.

Just an FYI, cleanup is relatively easy for this. The peroxide simply turns into water and oxygen, and potassium iodide is what they put in salt to make it iodized. So we just have soapy water and a food additive!

The reaction looks like it is occuring at a much slower rate. The contributing factors for that might be the large open top and diluated reactants.
