Options emerge for potential arenas if Arizona Coyotes relocate to Utah

There's been a lot of speculation about where a hockey arena could be built after news broke that the Arizona Coyotes may relocate to Utah.

To accommodate an NHL team, Salt Lake City will need a hockey arena.

Some options include the north side of the Gateway, the empty parking lot across the street from the Delta Center, and modifying the Delta Center.

As of Tuesday, there is no official word on where Smith Entertainment Group would build a new home for the Coyotes.

"Smith Entertainment has admitted to developing downtown,” said Dee Brewer, executive director for Downtown Alliance.

It is crucial that they build a new arena for the Jazz and the NHL team. The state legislature approved $900 million for a new arena. Other owners would give their souls to get that amount of help. Doing a major gutting or renovation of the Delta Center is not possible. The Jazz and the NHL team will be using the Delta Center 6 months a year. Ryan Smith needs to do it right. Get a new arena
