What is the best free antivirus for Windows 10 or Windows 11? This is a built in anti-malware tool that could potentially find malware on your computer. It's not a substitute for a paid anti-virus program.

Open up windows defender, set scan to full scan. And then, click... *_Start Scan_*

You can do the same thing but more easier, go to cmd prompt, run as administrator, and type “sfc/scannow” and it’ll take 5-7 minutes. It kinda depends if you have a ssd or a hdd

Something people don't get nowadays is that windows built in antivirus is getting better. Currently you can have it without downloading any 3rd party software.
Also it is not 100% free, it costs whatever windows costs you

It only checks for Malicious Software, a type of Malware which is actually a Virus. Windows Defender utilises it too. It's basically one of Windows internal security features.
