Kyle Shanahan provides an update on 49ers QB Trey Lance

Kyle Shanahan was asked about his injured quarterback, Trey Lance. The San Francisco 49ers coach provided and update before being asked in Lance might have a chance to return for the playoffs.

The guy who should have never of been questioned as our starter is pulling the trigger. Glad Trey is doing okay but seeing how this trade has gone for Miami and thinking of what kind of depth we could have produced at other positions hurts.

I think people better start looking at how this trade on draft day has shaped up for Miami and start asking some serious questions about lynch and shanahan. Same way the jimmy haters hold him accountable for every dropped pass by receivers or McGlinchy not even trying to make a block.

I don't think this team would play the way they do for Jimmy with Trey. Nothing against him at all it's just they have respect and chemistry for Jimmy, replacing him, especially when they are doing good, with a young, untested and hardly played quarterback wouldn't sit well with most of the team.

I’m so over this whole conversation. You bet the farm on a kid who didn’t even have a full college worth of experience. He sat his first two years, almost completely out with injuries and hasn’t had time to develop, so you still don’t know what you really got. I wish the best to this young player but as an organization, I think it’s time to cut ties and move on and cut your losses.

Is just unfortunate Shanahan screwed up the entire QB plan when he should have drafted Mahomes in 2017 while the roster was still being constructed. Once the roster has been formed and you start dishing out big contracts to the star players, it is a bit late to have to develop a freshly drafted QB. I guess I was spoiled by Kap at the time who literally started killing it from the moment he stepped onto the field. But, I guess not everyone else is like that and if you look around at the other QBs in Trey's draft class, most of them are average at best and that is already with close to 2 years of starting experience. I am afraid the right move going forward under the circumstances is to sign Jimmy G to an extension and move on from Lance. None of these QBs can outplay Jimmy. Some may want to argue Trevor Lawrence, but other than that, Zach Wilson? Mac Jones? Justin Fields? All of them are miles off Jimmy. And we don't have the luxury of time to write off 2 years to develop the kid just to find out whether he has the stuff. By then, Trent will be 37, both Kittle and Armstead will be 32. It just doesn't make sense.
