Re: Zero is one of the most interesting isekai anime that has come out in the past few years. The story revolves around Natsuki Subaru being transported from Earth to a new world and he is granted one simple power: "Return By Death". Subaru must use this newfound power to save those he cares about, such as Emilia, Rem, Ram, Petra, Otto and Garfiel and more.

Who is Satella and why did she grant subaru this power? What is the motivation behind the witch cult which have members such as Petelguese the sin archbishop of sloth? These are some of the questions I'll tackle on this channel, I hope you enjoy it and most importantly also enjoy season 1 and season 2 of Re: zero and hopefully it does well enough to warrant a third season covering arc 5 (Season 3 re: zero).

Everyones playing down this chapter but personally I really enjoyed it. Especially with how certain interactions get reworked because of the different genders. Like Subaru being 'motherly' towards Forte, or her being less athletic and more artsy. These are minor things but I found them to be interesting changes. Also alongside the fact that there's a connection between Luna-Satella, there's also the Tinkerbell-Puck connection. This confirms the Robin Goodfellow/Puck connection I've seen mentioned.

Honestly we can't expect Tappei to make a divergence if route every April Fools. The original concept was a joke anyway. I think we'll only get serious Ifs when the story calls for it and enjoy the funny meme stuff we get in the offtime.

I wasn't really getting my hopes up since there hasn't been a critical decision for Subaru to make in the main story. So the idea of melancholy if or a retelling of lust if was not really something I was getting my hopes up for. But man, this was uneventful.

Tappei basically teased that Subaru is past the point where he can break to thw point we see in the other IF routes, maybe, possibly.

On a real note, as people on reddit pointed out, Subaru’s character development in arc 4 means it’s very difficult for him to break that badly again in Tappei’s eyes, and Gluttony IF only happened in arc 6 because… Well, read arc 6, it’s not difficult to figure out what happened to his mental state there if you’ve read it.

Though, Tappei did alledgedly write that part semi-sarcastically, and we know arcs 7-9 are gonna contain even more suffering than past arcs from the Q&A’s, so it’s not too difficult imagineing Subaru looping so much that his mind finally breaks, leaving everybody behind without him, or something along those lines, which would be perfect for a Melancholy IF.

Personally, I feel like he has a specific sequence of events in mind for Melancholy IF, and he just hasn’t gotten there yet.

well if Satella is thematically tied to Stars (stella in italy), perhaps Luna is the same. (luna is the word for moon in italy). so the idea that sin archbishops are named from stars constellations while witch and warlock from moons or planet seems to be confirmed. and whoever decided such names did it intentionally and knows about our world astronomy.

it felt to me that the way the story is told is similar to the real arc1 but subaru attitude and quickness on picking info and decision makes me feel like this is not arc1 subaru, rather more arc6 subaru. and this thing here, unlike the school if (vainglory) is some kind of echidna dream where subaru is locked. does it feel possible?
