Bitcoin and Ethereum are the two largest cryptos in the world by market cap. At the same time, they are running on outdated technology, sometimes referred to as Gen 1 and Gen 2 of the blockchain, respectively. But today we now have Gen 3 blockchains networks, including Dr Gavin Wood's Polkadot, Charles Hoskinson's Cardano, and Vitalik Buterin's Ethereum 2.0.

But while all three cryptos improve on common problems with current blockchains, we need to compare them in detail if we want to determine which is the "Best" overall.

Another unique point of Polkadot is that the code can be upgraded without a hard fork which is impressive in itself. The biggest block for ETH2.0 is getting all of the nodes to update and move to 2.0.

Polkadot uses Cardanos Ouroboros consensus mechanism at it's base. The difference between Cardano and Dot is their intended market. I don't believe they are competing each other in the long run. But they both are taking away market share from Eth, which is less secure, slow and will remain expensive to run and use. More over Cardano is building mechanism to run Eth within Cardano much more cheaply and securely. Eth maximalists that refuse to see the writing on the wall will loose. Those who are smart will move their asset to Cardano as Singularity people did.
Eth was not well thought out as first mover and has too much baggage to compete and Cardano is building a large knowledge base that is difficult to replicate.
There are going to be many blockchains but all will be based on Cardanos work, as it is the most comprehensive and complete. But that may not reflect on Ada price. As any one can do as Dot did.

GREAT REVEIW. I would weight Eth highest in potential because of the current adoption rate is way ahead of the other 2. Eth will also have ETFs that people can invest in, so this exposure alone makes a difference in adoption. Its known and being utilized with institutions.

Woah, so I think the significance of Polkadot's parachains just clicked for me for the first time. Is it that by auctioning slots to elected projects, the parachain model provides a trustworthy and reputable launchpad for new projects? Meanwhile Polkadot's "Layer 0" solution to interoperability, as a separate operation from parachains, will be connecting basically every other chain there is?

Cardano is the biggest sleeping giant in the crypto space I feel like sol is a huge project that will hold up the test of time I don't know much about polkadot it's always been something I want to look at but I keep falling into other coins I also think that Eth 2 is a very strong platform to come and with 4.5% staking rewards on coinbase it will attract a lot of attention and make the Eth platform miles better than even people are predicting atm

Vitalik Buterin said in a recent interview that it will be at least 6 years for Eth 2.0 completion.
Last year Vitalik said high gas fees will be here for the foreseeable future.
So why are people still pushing Ethereum as if Eth 2.0 is a reality?
