Adidas Takumi Sen 8 — 500km Review

The Adidas Takumi Sen 8.

Since November 2022, I have put 330 miles on the shoes. Notably, I ran a 35:43 10K PB in these shoes on a track in December 2022.

The Takumi Sen transitioned from a race day only and speed work shoe to my easy run and long run shoe. It is a jack of all trades and in my running shoe hall of fame.

After 330 miles, parts of the shoe are well used. The single-layer Celermesh upper is dirty but not broken. It fits well, although it chafes my bunion on runs exceeding 75 minutes.

The LIGHTSTRIKE pro midsole shows compression on both sides of each shoe and underfoot. A hint of the midsole has chipped away underfoot.

In contrast the Carbon EnergyRods appear in excellent condition. They and the midsole continue to provide a pronounced bounce and propulsion at different paces.

The Continental Rubber outsole shows little to no wear.

To conclude, this shoe can likely go another 500km and has provided excellent value for money.

Appreciate the real long term usage.
Most of reviewers stops at 100miles, few only 300miles.
durability should be one of the go green initiative. Making shoes with x% recycled material that only last for 100miles are simply green-washing :)

Absolutely agree on the versatility of these. The midsole stays fresh and cushioned regardless of how long I run for, which I cannot say about any other midsole. I've done 2, 5h runs in these and for the first time not felt let down by the shoes. I had to go a half size down or otherwise they'd have been FAR too long. Love the fit of them, nice and narrow with a flexible heel counter, just what I want. My issues include the mesh on top of the toebox rubbing a hole in my sock againt the bit toe nail (a biomechanical oddity in me where I seemingly unawarely lift the big toe all the time sp that it scrapes against the coarse mesh but it's easily prevented with just a tiny piece of sports tape on the sock) and that there's a lack of lateral rubner coverage at the toe of the shoe as I push off laterally at faster paces.

i have 2 pairs. length and widthwise, true to size, but shallow toe box. good for faster but shorter workouts but hurt toes and gave me blisters when wore it in a 32km run. got the second pair half size bigger, a little too long for my liking but great for easy and long slow distance. they are super light but when running, feel a little bottom heavy. midsole foam is a bit firm but so gentle on the legs, don't need as much recovery time.

I've been running in the Boston 11s and am near 700km, I think around 600 I started to see a little wear on the continental rubber, once it started though it progressed faster, though they have a different tread pattern which likely affects wear and tear. Still planning to hit 800km in these shoes and then change to the Boston 12s which look like a big improvement over what was a pretty bad shoe. Did just get the Adizero SL for me and my wife who had her first run with me, she complained they hurt her toes, a little too narrow, I also found the toe box was a bit small. These are complaints I read about so many Adizero shoes in nearly every review, it astounds me that Adidas seem to struggle to make a comfortable shoe. No one is as far as I know, complaining about a shoe being a little too wide, or the toe box having a bit too much room, it's when things are too narrow or too tight that people will complain, and it should be easy to solve... Hopefully we'll see Adidas correct these issues.

the upper in my Adios 7 cracked in less than 300km...and i found a bargain in the Sen 8 but my fear is that the upper last less than 500km...i mean a have a pair of boston 10 with more than 1200km and the upper still brand new....
