I have just started learning sweeping after 2 years of playing guitar so this is very helpful. Thank you

Jakob.

THANK you, it's usually a lack of perspective, and this is everything

Dude taught me more about picking technique in one short than school taught me about taxes over a period of 13 years.

Love the shirt. Sweep picking at such speed is a gift. Even with years of practice I can’t get up to that speed with clean articulate sweeps.

My problem for the longest time was knowing I needed to lift the pick up when I'm restarting the sweep from the top. Honestly knowing how to control the pick for certain techniques seems to be my problem for most of my issues.

This is the best explanation I’ve seen. Clear and concise.

Been playing at an intermediate level for years and needed this. Just the right way to get me motivated. Kudos.

The hard thing Is actually muting the strings at the right time with the picking hand, other than that Is easy af. Left hand Is just muscle memory.

Damn dude, they made my sweeps sound so much better and they are way easier, never thought to lightly hit the strings and adjustments for a even strum.

You are correct about that. The left- and right-hand work together. The angle of the pick means a lot. Practice, practice and practice more...

I understand every possible concept of sweep picking, and I've been trying to do it for years but my left hand doesn't go nearly as fast as my right. Yes, I can practice slow, but it never gets faster. I just do other arpeggios instead.

Pro practicing tip that changed my sweeping immensely. Everyone knows about starting slow and getting faster. People don't seem to know about starting firm and getting looser. Like it is really hard to start from being low resistance immediately. The process of getting comfortable with the gentle looseness of playing fast is benefitted by knowing a spectrum of firmness. That goes for both hands. Fret hard, fret so soft it mutes and knowing that spectrum of sounds in between can really help.

Thank you man I feel like I had hit a wall with my sweeping and I knew it was my right hand but I couldn't figure out why, just tried adjusting my pick and going really slow with the metronome and it's made a world of difference. Thank you 🤘

My problem is that I learned how to play guitar right handed…but I’m left handed. My left hand is never the problem, but I don’t have the timing or coordination or feel with my right hand. Hours of practice have made me marginally better, but overall I just decided to be a rhythm guitarist and enjoy it.

For me it's actually the left hand because I haven't taken the time to learn what people actually play when they're sweep picking. Sometimes I sweep through a triad and play scale tones around those notes with slides or legato.

I've gotten more practical guitar advice about shit that frustrated me and made me quit in about two minutes of scrolling through these shorts than I have in over a decade of futzing around and trying different teachers. Thanks. I might revisit some of this stuff and try again.
