2020 Volvo XC60 Polestar Engineered | Not Quite An XC60 R...

If you thought that the 400 horsepower XC60 T8 was Volvo's answer to the Audi SQ5, you're apparently wrong, that's what the new XC60 Polestar Engineered is for. Using the same basic PHEV system, the XC60 PE dials the power up to 415 ponies, adds Öhlins adjustable dampers, fender flares for bigger tires and general aesthetic tweaks. Does the combination of upgrades make this the successor to the now-defunct R brand? Not quite.

The yellow seat belts are cool. Other manufacturers should offer brightly colored seat belts....safety can be a fashion statement. I am looking forward to a longer term test of this vehicle. Miss your analysis of rear seats and cargo space.

Excellent review thanks Alex, I would love to buy one of these XC60 but my XC70 is still going strong and I love it🇬🇧👍🏻

What would I get at that price? The same as you - T8 Inscription. That's the current plan unless someone else comes out with with a plug-in hybrid in the same size that is nice looking, punchy and tuned toward comfort. Oh, and not ugly so no Lexus' need apply. Thanks for the review and for the others you've done on the XC60.

Alex, any update on the XC-40 hybrid? Or plugin hybrid? When will we see it in the US?

I love my XC60 but I also can't wait for my lease to be up in 2 years when the Polestar 2 will hopefully be available.

Alex, very helpful review. From the stock suspension tuning, is it as soft as it will go already or can it be made any less firm from stock? I have a xc60 with air and 21's and am wondering if this P with 21's with dialed softer susp settings would be at all comparable? I don't really want a noticeably bumpier ride, but I would trade slightly bumpier for better handling overall.

Very nice... yet I'm not convinced I want a full-on "performance" SUV. Pretty sure I'd go for the regular T-8 Inscription model, like Alex mentions at the end of the video.

All that power and torque and it’s still significantly worse performing than the BMW X3/4 M40i

Volvo does luxury very well, but Polestar really hasn’t ever made anything worth talking about in the last decade

What I’m saying is, brilliant car but I don’t see why they even bother trying to compete with M/Quattro/AMG.

Yes mechanical AWD might help with torque steer and off-road venturing (no one is taking their luxury SUV off-road) -- buy this Volvo gets INCREDIBLE fuel economy with 415HP -- no other manufacturer is doing this!

About to start commenting, "LONG LIVE THE SEDANS!!" on every crossover video I see.

If you adjust aero suspension of the normal T8 to dynamic, is it getting any close to the stiffness of the öhlins suspension?

It should be a bit more fabulous for that price. However super fuel efficient with that much power and torque....hmmm

Hi Alex! Thank you for all your amazing review videos! I am a CA resident and I recently bought a 2018 used T8 Inscription. I absolutely love it (thanks for the reco), but when I went to the DMV in Los Angeles they said the vehicle isn't available for car pool lane certification. It didn't seem right, but am I missing something? Would be great to hear your thoughts here. Thanks as always!

I have driven the s40, xc70 now the xc60. After 3 years the dashboard electric fails and goes dark (dead) while driving... had to park on the side of the highway to restart with no problem... I donno.. if I trust buying a Volvo. Lease is okay. But not buy

I don't understand the dampers thing or the individual drive modes combination: "Polestar on the powertrain characteristics, high steering force ..." and what the heck is "Pure Mode"? I wish I could pick a car based on ride comfort instead of gas mileage, but alas ... at over $4.25/ gallon in CA ...

Tiny super and turbo charged engines are not for me. Normally aspirated engines have gotten rare.
