SQL is becoming a common skill requirement across industries.

Companies like Amazon and Google often will require their data analysts, data scientists and product managers to at least be familiar with SQL. This is because SQL remains the language of data. So, in order to be data driven, people need to know how to access and analyze data.

With so many people looking at, slicing, manipulating and analyzing data with SQL we wanted to create the last advanced SQL tutorial you will ever need.

This is the start of a larger series where we will be working on helping you create a SQL project.

Whether you are a data engineer or data analyst this will be a great series for you to work on your sql portfolio.

If you want to learn SQL, consider taking a udemy course.

2:14 into this video and you have already nailed every issue I have been working to solve! I still have the rest of the video to watch but it is really promising so far. 👍

Thank you very much! I have made two data sets myself and really don’t enjoy that. Making the data set skips the need for cleaning or validating and makes it hard to formulate a real life type question. I like this approach. Much thanks.

Bout to fail my sql class. I spent hours trying to do the exercises but never know why certain syntax wont work, when and when not to use subqueries, or why the hell i can't use aggregate functions over other aggregate functions after I've already grouped them with another nonaggregate value. My prof just keeps telling me to work harder. Not sure how much harder I can work when I spent like 8 hours a day looking at 6 problems.

Oooh that's me sometimes. I have good understanding of various Advanced SQL concepts, but I need to practice more on application. I find that LeetCode can also be helpful with practice.

Nice and informative video. I was watching it live and even as a senior data engineer I picked up some good tips.

From the title I thought you'll give some sort of advice on when to use and not use some of the more advanced SQL features + caveats for performance/organization of code etc.
This is a video with your opinion on learning new skills and hardening your existing skills by applying them. Could have been cut short to a <5min video to be honest ;)
I still like the content and your suggestions on how to learn in this area: where to find data, ideas for data exploration to get a good understanding of the data and finally learning from articles of how other people have solved these problems.
Especially your last point is the key to learning "get away from step by step tutorials and start building things".

You recommend the most expensive course on Udemy. How much is he paying you?
