I’m leaning toward another idea, which is to eliminate the tv altogether.

Finally, someone addresses this issue, yay! Thank you, I love your ideas.

Living in a Victorian we are restoring I really like the map idea! We want to hide everything modern so it is as if one stepped back in time. I also thought about a velvet drape of some sort.

I always hoped someone would come up with a TV that looked like a beautiful mirror when the TV was not in use.

How about an attractive decorative folding screen that stands in front of the tv. Possibly best placed near a corner of the room?

I really enjoyed watching your video on how to incorporate a TV in the living room. But, I need some ideas on how to place a TV in a corner wall. My style is country cottage and I haven't been able to figure this out. Thank in advance for your input.

I know this video is a bit old but something I've found people doing is using decorative tape to restyle the bezel of the TV. Super cheap and easy and it comes in tons of finishes to help match your furniture better like bronze, copper, even faux wood grains.

I love this video - well all of your videos! You just inspired me to diy a cover for my TV. Thank you for your hard work making these videos. You've quickly become my favorite online designer. I can't wait to get to know you better. ❤

We recently completed our retirement home with a very open floor plan, so here are a couple of ideas that I have considered for the electronic “black hole” above the fireplace, especially since MDH didn’t want our TV to be recessed; he may be purchasing an even bigger one once the prices decrease. YEAH!! 🤣
A). I have a beautiful (very large) antique platter that has black, gray, tan, red, cream, and gold in the pattern. I may (carefully) mount that above the TV. Nancy’s Daily Dish also sells black and white dishes and painted platters that could also be used. An inexpensive DIY project might be to decoupage some plates, platters, etc. yourself.
B). I’ve considered painting the back wall, but since we have adjacent bookshelves and we’re trying to keep the space light, I’m not completely sold. Minimally, I’ll be incorporating some black/gray into our books and/or nick-knacks to distract from the TV.
C). I’ve been playing with the idea of somehow attaching small acrylic mirrors to 1-2 canvases (since they’re light-weight) and creating large “mirror(s)” that could be placed in-front-of or attached-to the TV when we’re expecting company or doing a more formal event (it’s the only time I really care). Wallpaper and fabric might be other options.
D). I have seen a tapestry mounted above a TV and pulled-up like a balloon/Roman shade.
E). I’ve considered extending my mantle with a piece of glass, acrylic, or wood and placing vases, flowers, etc. in front of the TV for special events.
F). A folding metal or wood/painted screen/room divider placed on the mantle in front of the TV is another option.
G). I’m not completely sold on the wood-frame-around the TV idea; they’re too skimpy for my house/taste, though I recently saw a DIYer who had mounted a much “weightier” frame around her TV.
H). A lot of local folks are having professional electronic “paintings” done, but I don’t have any details.
I). Have you seen those “folding” TV’s?!? They were originally about 10K, but we can always hope!!
Of course, we all know that the the key is to “pick our battles.” Since MDH is a great guy who doesn’t ask for much, I’ve definitely let this one go!!

There are several companies that make a television that turns into a mirror when it’s turned off. You can even customize your own frame. I’m a widowed empty-nester, I don’t have a television in my living room. I barely watched television so it’s in my bedroom. My friend’s husband asked me, “Why don’t you have a television in your living room.” I replied, if anyone is coming to my home, they’re usually coming to visit me not watch television.

A couple of weeks ago I had three of my Grandsons (all under the age of 7) spending the weekend. During the day we made cars out of cardboard boxes, that evening I set their “Cars” up on my bed all in a row and we pretended we were at a “Drive-In”. It was hysterical because they had no idea what it was!

Brilliant compilation of TV solutions. Can't wait for more TV makers to offer more options. Can you offer solutions for other things like bathroom medicine cabinet or small storage for the bathroom? Also privacy for balconies or patios? Thanks and GOD bless you and yours.

A large vintage tapestry hanging from a nice rod could be cool too. Depending on the setting, a gorgeous piece of netting style tablecloth strung on rings could be nice. 🤔

Love these ideas! I love the vintage "educational" posters, too, so using one to cover up the tv is brilliant. Not sure how big it would have to be, though. that might be a little problematic! Ha!

One more is what I do - a tv lift. It sits behind a cabinet (34 inch high by as wide as u need for tv size) and at the press of a button it lifts up for viewing and then another button press lowers it down out of sight when I’m done. I think they’re often installed inside a custom cabinet but the disadvantage is if you want a new tv of a different size it may not fit in a custom unit. That’s also true of some of these solutions - it works better if they’re generously larger than the tv itself

While I am not that interested in this topic, I came across this video and played it out of curiosity. You offer some interesting takes on how to hide TV. I also found your channel's name pretty classic: "She holds dearly". Good choice! Wish you a good luck youtubing!
