Thank you for sharing this idea - as I have to do the same in my wall of an old 1965 house that used 24" stud spacing (vs. 16" stud spacing) because I have to have three shelves for the laundry closet and there are no studs at the correct spacing!!! Oh Joy!. I took out the old bookshelf type that sat on the floor - not a good idea when there is a drain over flow!. (and sorry, yes, the music volume was too high)

Without tape, you will more than likely get a crack
