Warp Zones were meant to be easy to access, but still off the beaten path for average players. It was a brilliant approach to incorporating a level select feature into the game!

I love the mind of a child l. When I was 4-5 years old I used to learn swimming at an indoor pool where there was a big waterslide that was green.
One day on a hot summer my dad decided we will go swim at a pool in another city. And guess what, they had a similar water slide but it was orange/red.
And I thought OHH THIS IS THE WARP ZONE TO WORLD 8!!!

When I was a little kid in the 80's, we shared secrets like these on the bus to school. I was the master of trading secrets in games like this. Nintendo Power (magazine) was the best source of game secrets.. The very best magazine that anyone could ever own. I don't know how I got so lucky to one of the few that actually, owned a subscription.. but damn, dude!! However I did!!

If you jump through the wall at the end of 1-2 and go down the middle pipe (The far left is minus world) you can go to level 5.

The most intense 35 minutes but worth it to beat the game, thankfully I remembered most of world 8-4 and what pipes to use.

Definitely a fun run but likely won’t do it again, had nes growing up couldn’t beat smb as a kid.

There are 2 warp zones that lead to level 5. The first one is at the end of level 1-2. Clip the wall as though you are going to level -1. Rather than go into the first pipe, keep walking right to reveal all three pipes and the middle pipe will offer you a straight pass to level 5.

if you want to beat smb 1 fast, go to the 1-2 warp zone, go to world 4, and go to the 4-2 warp zone (the one in the vine) and go to world 8, then beat the game!

There are much more warp zones in Super Mario 2. And there is one in World 3 that takes you back to World 1 for some reason.
