29 Miles: GH4 4K 25p in car test shots

Please do not drive and shoot at the same time. The camera was never operated whilst moving or the engine running. It was locked off on suction mounts repositioned after ever stop.

A few test shots of my just received GH4 in 4K 25p in Cinelike D with sharpness at -5 and contrast at -5 with soft contrast in additional settings. Recorded internally.

Voigtlander 17.5mm and 25mm F0.95
Lumix 7-14mm F4
Lumix 12-35mm F2.8 OIS

I must say this, as it is a grating debate that has grown tired, maybe we should look to make our "films" look like what WE want them to look like.  Film grain, saturation, so on and so forth is only worth arguing about if it advances the story.  It is our imagination that must be fulfilled not the expectations we think others have.  Only then will the true art be created.  

Alright, that being said, I love the look of the film convert over this footage.  It is craggy, crisp, dramatic and moving.  For just wandering about with a camera whilst traveling this film makes me want to see a gritty story about heartache, loss and the eventual breakthrough of a character making the world a better place for himself and whomever is around him.  Applause once again Philip Bloom for making something inspiring regardless of the format.

Thanks for sharing this test Philip!  Wow, this is sharp, even with YouTube's compressed 1080p!  I'm actually wondering if it's crossing into the too sharp territory; there's something which feels a little uneasy about it.  I'm almost wondering if adding some softness would actually make it look more cinematic.  But in terms of sharpness, I'm impressed!

Where is the camera placed at 0:18, is it looking at the wing mirror? and is 1:28 at the rear view mirror with the camera in the passenger seat? Anyway, some really nice shots, it's surprisingly entertaining considering it is you driving on the motorway on an average british day...

Neat video Philip, I got mine Monday and have had nothing but surprises, it is so much cleaner than the GH2 and works wonders.  The 4k is very prone to Rolling Shutter issues so you have to be careful, even on the PB Slider at full motor speed it skews a little.    1080p in EX tele mode has no aliasing but it has more rolling shutter and wont work for 96fps slowmo, EX Tele that is.

Philip, is that possible to see a little comparison between the 1dc and gh4 since you have both cameras. It would be fun to see how the gh4 would do against that amazing 1dc wich came quite a while ago.
