As part of the preparation for the Centenary concerts, I’ve been having an illuminating time delving into my father’s catalogue to make new arrangements of some of his incredible compositions. I couldn’t bear the thought that we wouldn’t be playing any of it tonight, so I asked many of my father’s students to record from their own homes around the world so we could play for you. Here is a taster of what you will hear when we reschedule these shows!

Performed live from musicians’ homes worldwide during coronavirus stay-at-home orders

My mother knew Ravi Shankar. She met him while training at Vishnudevananda's Ashram in Canada. Peter Max was there at the time, too, back in the early seventies. I grew up on Ravi Shankar's music. What beauty this man gave to the world.

In pursuit of my "roots" (I am a Panjabi from India living in the USA) I discovered that Sandhya means EVENING, when the sun is setting. It depicts a mood that exists at that time, when the day is done, and night about to come. Appropriate for me. I am 88. years old In Indian tradition, reality is just our mood. The way we feel. Not what we own.

Saw you and your father perform several times in San Diego and I think I attended his 90th birthday celebration also. He was there that night as were you and your family. What a treasure that was. I have loved his music since the 60's when he made his appearance at Monterey Pop. Indian music has always resonated with my soul. Thank you for carrying on his legacy of pure and heartfelt classical music. Happy Birthday, Maestro.

Power of Indian musicians, no notes in the front! It comes from the heart and ear music.

Listening to this when suddenly a windstorm breaks out. Sort of epic.

I love your playing, Anoushka. We both took part in the same charity concert, twenty years ago (Sunday 4th June 2000) at the Royal Opera House in London ! I played the Scottish pipes, accompanying the lovely Lulu, singing "Amazing Grace". I sat through your rehearsals on the stage, earlier that day - enjoying all those harmonics ! After the concert, at the reception, I saw your Dad who has been a great idol of mine since I first heard him in my youth. Keep up the good work, and thank you for your terrific music ! Bob

She has a very different kinda charm, she looks very beautiful and elegant to me. Though I don't see people on their physical realm, she has something which attracts.
God bless you, dear.

When you can play like that in perfect unison, and that too long distance, thanks to technology, you know you have achieved greatness! What a great tribute! Happy Centenary to Pandit Ravi Shankar!

I had the joy of seeing Anoushka in concert several years ago at a theater in New Jersey. It was a concert and memory that I will treasure always.

I met your father years ago. He was my introduction to the musical tradition of Northern India and I feel richer for the experience. It served to broaden my horizons musically. Sadhu Pandit Shankar!
