Great tip Seth, keep these coming. Small spaces are a PITA. I personally use a pair of avenger baby wall mount plates attached to the wall with a manfrotto cross bar to mount paper and to avoid stands. The only sort of downside is mounting and dismounting the paper for each use. I like this taping solution for an even quicker way to set up and tear down when needing to do a quick shoot.

You suggest gaffer tape, which I have, but not everyone has this kind of tape at hand. Works fine for paper back drops, but cloth or canvas is a different challenge. Back to the stands and cross bar.

Awesome, I accidentally discovered trick this because I needed a simple way to mount a paper backdrop. I'm still thinking about simple ways to mount paper backdrops with the roll at the top without using stands. My studio space is limited and stands take up a lot of space.
