The Panasonic S9 and the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 are both advertised as "Content Creation Cameras" so I thought it's only fitting to pit them against each other! Special thanks to @mondobytes @cammackey and @TerryWarfield for sharing their thoughts on these cameras through Riverside!

Nice man! I'm in the Sony world but I've been heavily considering the DJI Osmo Pocket 3...Definitely appreciate this video regardless! 🔥

I use both of these for weddings. For gimbal and detail room shots I use the pocket. For getting ready and some portrait shots I use the S9 and the S5II

I was considering the Osmo Pocket for a while but thought I’d give my Iphone 15 Pro a chance on a recent trip to South East Asia. Long story short, I don’t see a need for the Osmo at all. I got an A7Cii instead.

I have the OP3, and like Terry Warfield I think it's fantastic. For my uses, I mostly use the Landscape mode. For vertical, I don't consider the 3K resolution in vertical mode a "bummer". It's 3K. Before 4K hit movie theaters, you saw movies in 2K on a 30-foot screen or larger. When you consider that vertical videos are viewed on people's smartphones, 3K is actually overkill.

I have the Sony FX30, so I don't have a need for an S9. But, I do consider the S9 to be a better camera than people make it out to be. Since the release of the S5ii/x and the GH7, I am considering on switching systems. I had the GH5 for my first camera, and I love LUMIX colors. Thanks for the sharing the input of all these creators.

I wish I made this video. I genuinely love both of these camera. Just yesterday, I chose the pocket 3 for a creative shot out of pure laziness and it still looks great!

Set a button on my S5ii to show vertical frame overlay with one click. Definitely has been helpful when I'm filming open gate!

This is a great video idea! Thanks for sharing it.

Personally, I love my Pocket 3. The quality is good enough for social media and YouTube, and it's so easy to whip it out, take smooth shots, then throw it back into my bag. It lets me focus on my trip and enjoy the moments more compared to a taking out a heavier setup where I'll have to fiddle with settings to get the shot right. It's an amazing little video camera that makes me want to shoot more video.

DJI are making great modern rounded products. If they take the Pocket line to larger sensors they are likely to attract more phone upgraders than the legacy-based offerings

I’m primarily a stills shooter. I’ve always been happy with the results from 1 inch sensors, and the pocket 3 doesn’t disappoint at all. I haven’t been able to get the raw files processed to my liking but the JPEGs are really great and hold up surprisingly well to heavy editing. Especially in Snapseed. The results look fantastic on my 65 inch 4K tv. No complaints here. I might even shoot video on it one day

Yeah I love this, I’ve been leaning heavy on the Osmo 3 lately and love it.

Connor, open gate is virtually useless for me at just 25fps as I mainly shoot in 50fps or 100fps, even if this was available in 1080 I could have used it.
Plus I agree with Terry, I like to see my framing, and don't want to visualise my framing.
My only issue with the S9 is the price, as Id buy one as a second camera just for the stabilisation, if they sold it at £1200 with the up coming zoom, id definitely buy one.

How is the upload for the lumix? Does it let you upload right to your phone or apps ?

Good video. Personally my choice is the OP3. The built in support for wireless audio, tracking, gimbal and size/weight make this a must have for convenient content creation. The S9 has quite bad rolling shutter and no mechanical shutter or hotshoe. This makes it a subpar photo camera. I feel the better option to the S9 would be the excellent S5II/x.

Pocket for convinience and not attracting attention. For vlogging win's easily. Less durable.
S9 for photos and ability to change lenses to get a variety of shots as a creative tool.

All depends on how you go out and shoot, for me the pocket has drastically reduced the amount I take my mirrorless camera out. I use it as a travel camera so weight counts, especially hiking/cycling.

I mean shooting 1:1 on the Osmo is pretty slick ngl

Lol, I literally just sold my Osmo Pocket 3 and grabbed an S9. I love the Osmo Pocket 3 but just prefer the quality from the bigger cameras. Both cameras are great though, the best feature on the Osmo is the form factor. Quality is better on the other cameras but in the right settings, they all look good. Dope video, I see all the bigger YouTuber are getting in the collar bag. Beginners can't go wrong with either, I may get another pocket 3 for Christmas haha.
