In this video I compare the DJI Pocket 3 and the Sony A7 IV + DJI RS3 Mini with a lot of test footage. Can you spot the 4000$ difference in image quality?

A: Sony a7iv
B: DJI Pocket 3

I like A (a7iv) better. But B (pocket 3) has some pretty good low light shots.
I actually have both. Just got the Pocket 3 the other day but haven’t been able to fully get into its abilities so it’s good to see this video.
Thanks for the comparison!

I actually enjoyed watching B most of the time.

Congratulations on the video, I have both cameras, I've been using the Sony a7iv since it was launched but when I got the osmo pocket 3 I was impressed with the image quality, even more so when I record in Dlog.

At first I thought B. had to be the A7IV… until I started seeing a few things in the footage. It’s weird because I preferred the colors from B.

I watched this on a 4K 75" screen and barely seen any differences. Sometimes I prefer B, sometimes A, and throughout the video I was just "I like both, I'd been happy with both". 650$ for the creator pack vs 4000$ without gimbal, extra battery etc. the choice is very easy if you are not a professional videographer or photographer and do mostly vlogging, travel videos, street interviews etc.

I prefer A. There's times where they look near identical, but then there's times when the DJI looks like cell phone footage.

The DJI Pocket 5 will be crazy good seeing how far they have come with the 3. It's truly impressive.

Nice review. Owning a DJI Pocket 3 and a full-frame Sony a7C with a Weebill S gimbal, I can tell that A: is the Sony, and B: the DJI. Sony, Canon and others would be smart to copy DJI, at least in terms of compactness. Obviously doesn't have to be the same exact design, but with some sort of attached gimbal, and perhaps a little bigger for a bigger sensor and lens to compete, but still small and light. Actually, I find that Pocket 3 night footage (like the near, total darkness footage on the beach at 8:14) actually looks better when 'not' using the 'low light' option! You can adjust it in post, and get rid of a lot of the grain, and it looks much closer to the A7 IV, if not better! Again, nice review, but that music at 5:28!...

I have both cameras i knew right away it was A as there is more DR in the footage of A, depending on how you color grade the shadows can be brought up in the a7iv, yet for run and gun the pocket 3 will do in a pinch and i use it quite a bit as its just so easy to use. For sure the pocket 3 is a no brainer its has to be in your bag, side note i also have the a6700

Camcorders are the underrated cameras! A powerhouse of a camera within one body especially with a higher model like Canon XF400 or the Sony X70 1080HD our its 4K successor PXW-Z90V. Heck even the Sony FDR-X700 is quite nice. AX53 from Sony also looks cool and it has a built in gimbal stabilization system in it as well. Both of the cameras featured in this video look good to me. Given my current purchasing budget the DJI Pocket 3 would be what I get from these two since it's more affordable for me. I'm also impressed with the footage that comes from it. But let's all remember whatever cameras you shoot with the content also matters a lot to.

The $3, 500 camera (this setup body/lense) price difference is for a reason. The clarity & low light “quality” is like day & night.

I haven’t got to the reveal but could tell immediately the Sony is A. However, the Pocket 3 holds up well but it can’t match a full frame. A better comparison would be Pocket 3 and ZVE1. ZVE1 would not need a gimbal and is even better in low light. The ZVE1 would blast those lowest light shots with much less noise, whereas the Pocket 3 falls apart in the really low light.

I found myself liking B more often than A. I own the Pocket 3 and had no idea it could compete with the $4k Sony.

Wow I had it backward. I was positive B was the Sony! Especially the low light scenes. Very impressive. I'll be ordering an Osmo soon.

If you had stopped the A7IV down, I would have had a much more difficult time trying to decide. I was most surprised to see the Sony hunting for exposure more than the Pocket 3 though.

This is done by a genius. You earned a sub brother. What lens are you using?

It's easy to tell them apart. A has way more detail in the shadows. Sony is known to have good dynamic range. B looks oversaturated most of the time. It's not bad for a pocket camera but the difference is noticable if you know what to look for. Most people probably won't be able to tell though.

Great video comparing the two! I am so impressed with the Osmo Pocket 3. I recently picked one up and have enjoyed testing it out. The footage looks so good on it! Cheers!

If you put pumping blur and exposure effect in post to Pocket 3 clips, it would be much harder to tell. Now I know how to make "cinematic FF look". Just pump blur and exposure and call it cinematic.

It was pretty obvious from the very beginning of the A cam constantly going in and out of focus
