This is not at all, political. Why should anyone be expected to celebrate the love of the wedding couple when they are not allowed to share the event with their own romantic partner. This seems to be happening more and more with basic rudeness being seen as "the right" of the bride. Back in the day, plus ones were a given for family and friends .

I mean if your partners trans you can’t really have a close friend who is anti trans without it causing problems - unless your anti trans friend is exceptionally empathetic and understanding person and diplomatic.

At some point you are going to have to pick - otherwise your partner will resent you or your friend will resent you.

In life we make choices and they take us away from childhood friends - sounds like one of those choices.

NTA for not going if your OP isn't invited. But the bottom line is it's her wedding and she has the right to set the guest list and if she feels uncomfortable with someone then no they shouldn't be there because for her that will ruin her big day. Why she feels uncomfortable with them simply does not matter.
