Messi and Ronaldo was blessed to have been young players in strong squads (Barcelona and Manchester United) in strong leagues (premier league and la liga) with strong managers (Pep and Ferguson), which helped refine their skills and mentality. Mbappe didn't really have that. He was a bit spoiled.

I never understood the hype around him. He always seemed to be a two trick pony. Either he can run behind the defense and leave them in the dust or he can do a solid 1v1 in or in front of the box to finish. Two solid tricks and extremely effective but pretty basic. Meanwhile Messi and Ronaldo at his age were monsters.
And with a team like psg I am not surprised that his mentality suffered as his ego grew.

I strongly hate todays sentiment to sensationalize topics to the max. Social media can make anyone look horrendus. Mbappe is doing just fine. He is in a new country, in a new role and the highest pressure you can have as a player playing for madrid. Family is probably also not fully there to support him. He is going to adapt and will be fine. The season IS still in its beginning stages. No need to jump the gun so fast. Ronaldo also had his problems in the beginning stages of madrid and look how he left the club. Mbappe IS still youthful and will delivery once he finds his footing.

Messi refused to play in less important games for Argentina multiple times, he even resigned once from the national team just to come back shortly before a big tournament. Don't paint him as some kind of holy role model when it comes to full commitment. There are more than enough other top players who played in the most unneccessary friendly games aswell that you could use as good examples.
