Trump visits California wildfires after hinting at aid withdrawal | DW News

US President Donald Trump has traveled to California to tour fire-ravaged areas in and around Los Angeles. After viewing the devastation, Trump declared that the national government was 100 percent behind those affected. He had earlier threatened to withhold assistance if the state failed to make policy changes. He also lambasted the US diaster response agency, which he's threatening to shut down.

Born and Raised in California we dont all think the same, thats for sure. Alot of people are fed up with the way its been run. A few mega cities sway the vote but alot of the state is in more rural areas. California needs to get off the woke agenda and take care of its own.

Your reporting seems to be inaccurate. I watched his trip on multiple other mainstream and independent sources and he said he is going to give them whatever they need to rebuild. What he is asking is not unreasonable to make things easier for the poor people to rebuild. Multiple residents and local media call out Bass for giving false information before Trump but telling them a different time frame to rebuild. I feel for the residents who lost everything and trust what they are reporting because they are the ones having to live through it.

Yes, its the illegal immigrants fault that California has wildfires every year. (sarcasm) sighs.
To suggest that each state has the same level of budget as does the Federal government and that each state should be fiscally responsible for disaster relief is crazy. What about large states with low population, like Montana? What if there was a fire near a large city there? There is nowhere near enough money in that state to be able to handle such an issue. At least the county of LA has some reasonable funds and the state of CA has more in reserve. The whole reason that we have these federal agencies is because we are supposed to be a UNITED group of states. If not, I mean why not just have each of the states secede from the union? Maybe that is what Trump wants, to have all of the democratic states leave the union so that it is the Republican States of America.
[edit] Lets see how Trump reacts to the Republican states this summer when floods and tornadoes happen and see if he is still for getting rid of FEMA and not supporting Federal aid when they ask for it. Then we will know if this is purely a partisan thing or if it is a general thing where he really isn't for the everyman.
