Appreciate the deep dives. I’ve never seen a patent or crystal lithography explained do well.

The reason all BMSs support 5v is historical— 5v is the original semiconductor voltage dating back to TTL semiconductors in the 1970s. CMOS adopted the standard for compatibility, and it’s become the default unless you have a compelling reason to go to lower voltages (as CPUs often do.). So it would have cost more to make a BMS that didn’t support up to 5V batteries.... and it will cost significantly more (or require extra circuitry) to support higher then 5V batteries. 5V is the standard for integrated circuits like 12v is the standard for car batteries.
