Wines Road Trip to Germany & France

Went on a beautiful road trip in Germany & France last summer. Drove through the historic town of Dinkelsbühl in Bavaria, South Germany. Along the trail towards the Black Forest mountains where the popular Black Forest gâteau originated, wherein the critical ingredient Schwarzwälder Kirsch (wasser) liquor is still used; which brought us through the scenic towns of Triberg and Freiburg. Steered across the border to France along the ‘Route des Vins’ (The Wines Road) through Colmar, capital of Alsatian wine (capitale des vins d'Alsace); and onward to Riquewihr, Ribeauvillé, Hunawihr, Eguisheim and Kaysersberg, also known as Winzerdorf (wine village). Visited the beautiful city of Strasbourg which is one of the four main capitals of the European Union, alongside Brussels, Luxembourg & Frankfurt. A three-hour drive took us to ‘Rüdesheim am Rhein’, a German winemaking town, and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Riesling grapes grown here are mainly used for producing the popular German white wines.
