Difference between emo and e-boy/girl or goth grunge for ignorants:

Emo (2005 ~ 2010): Wears checkered belt or studded metal belt, long asymmetrical long bangs, hoodie with skull or (mcr band logo), eyeliners, fingerless gloves, skinny jeans, stripped pattern t-shirt, dirty chuck taylor converse or checkered vans sneakers, dyed hair (optional but it considers as “scene”), nail polish, etc.

E-boy/girl or goth grunge aesthetic
(2019 ~ current): oversized Nirvana or Metallica or Iron Maiden band shirt, padlock chain necklace or gothic cross necklace, fishnet, platform doc martens, ripped black skinny jeans, heavy makeup (for girls), gothic cross earrings, curtain bangs, curly hair for boys, double hole grommet belt or stud belt, Tripp pants, etc.
