Hey everyone! Today we're going to see how easy (or hard) it is to assemble your own P-bass. I haven't assembled an instrument in a long time, let's see how it goes!

They're actually very well priced.

Parts list:
Cherryburst ash P-bass body
Status Graphite J-bass neck -
Hipshot Ultralight tuners
Hipshot A type bridge
Bartolini P-bass Pickup
250k pots

Whoops! Forgot to resize the graphic at the end... not worth a reupload.

That thing looks and sounds way better than I initially thought it would. Love the Status head in Black.

Nice looking Bass, I put a Modulus neck on a American Schecter P/J back in the 80's. Two things I remember about it was that it had no dead spots and it was very cold to the touch... About 1985...

I love this bass! Looks great and sounds really good. I've always wanted a bass with a graphite neck. Maybe one day...nice job dude!

Very nice bass. I did a similar project about 8 years ago, I bought a freshly refinished MM Stingray body on eBay, a Status Graphite neck and loaded it with EMG's and a badass bridge. It was my main bass for years until I got a Modulus Flea bass. Unfortunately the Stingray had to go to pay for the Modulus

I’ve really enjoyed watching some the older videos, they haven’t been as easy to locate!

Awesome videos as usual man!
I firmly believe that upgrading the neck to a graphite neck reduces all the possible dead spots that wood can have so you're always gonna have a solid flat bright sound!

That bass looks killer! Great choice of body, can't go wrong with the neck. Good work!

What a great looking bass, and one of the better sounding basses you’ve had on the channel!

Great work Lobster! I have bought and traded for several basses on your reviews and honest opinion. Thinking of doing a partial DIY project and your video is encouraging that a right brained, non-mechanical person may me able to do a lot of it myself.

Cool, man. That's a great looking instrument and I like the sound. And you've got some chops.👍🏼

The soldering can also be bypassed with an EMG plug & play pickup. 🙂

Bloody brilliant, I especially like the bridge and that neck is spot on

A lot of people like their bass builds to feature necks that need adjustment less often. Obviously graphite is pretty much never going to need adjustment (does this one even have a truss rod?) but I wonder if roasted maple tends to be more stable as reputed—or perhaps it depends on the particular piece of roasted maple and how it is cut.

Well done lobster. Sounds as good as it looks. Can't ask for much more. Thank you. Have a wonderful week.

That was a really cool video and the bass looks and sounds great!! I strongly prefer the bass you built over the Mexican P bass and I actually really like the P bass. The tone of the Status P is complex and really stood out with the tone backed off and it just looks killer. I have been begging off bass projects for a while but a video like this can get those juices stirring again.

Damn, Lobster, you have ALL the videos that I search for ! The thread I just started on Talkbass "Help I need your advice for a carbon fiber P/J" is exactly like this bass !!! You da man !!! - Mike
EDIT : Mine is a Moses Graphite 35" scale (No longer in production), but I also have a jazz bass with a Status neck. I don't like that the new ones have no logo on the front. I like the Status logo !

Interesting! As it happens I am ALSO working towards building a P-shaped bass with a graphite neck.

I am aiming towards a natural finished darker wood, like goncalo alves, maybe. But the neck is a Moses graphite fretless Jazz bass neck. And the pickups will be a DeLano Hybrid MM in the bridge position and a blade type P-bass pickup in the traditional spot.

What a beautiful bass. Love the look and tone. I want one. Not sure I have the patience to build unless I use pre built pre amp or harness . Stay safe Stu

I was really hoping you'd play with the lobster hand. Still earned a new sub, nevertheless. Awesome job, man!

I’m not generally a fan of “burst” finishes. But, with that neck and black hardware… 😍
