fun storry but I was hoping for more like:
"The galactic union approves the human balistics tests but why do they need 2 full solar systems for that?"
And then the human scientists strapped a sabbot onto a moon and fired it with a planet sized railgun at relativistic speeds into the next star system.
The end report: Test was a succsess, destructive power satisfying but speed is lacluster. 4 years from launch to impact are too long, we should try it with a warp engine

I myself happen to own a 1911 in .45 ACP, commander sized, nice custom work done to it, rust blued. Wonderful weapon and I agree with Smythe - *I would be* laughing like a mad scientist if my descendent used it to win a war before it had even started.

When I saw they said infantry weapons, I thought that they were going to have the enemy military get shredded by the God of War that is Artillery. After all, they aren't infantry portable weapons, but are commonly used in conventional wars these days.
