I just adore this song. Classic eighties feel, but so much more. Both haunting and mellow, glowing, softly effulgent.... Golden as the summer time sun in a magenta sky, yet also mysterious and inexpressible in places, like the intruding dusk. And always on edge, growing in non-stop intensity, while simultaneously subtle and low-key, covered in points of absolute peace.... All wedded together so nicely. Savvy yet falling apart. This along with Holiday is probably my favorite Madonna song. Lyrics are perfect too.

This song, Like a Virgin, Lucky Stars and Holiday was the signature NYC sound. When I visited NYC my first time when I was five years old in 1985. I remember all the city buses with the Kiss radio station advertising with lips that favor Madonna. That was how important she was to NYC at the time.

I wasn't born until about two decades after this song came out. But my dad would always play this song in the car when driving me to elementary school...now it's been a decade since! I miss simple times, who knew all the craziness of 2020-21 would happen?! So much has happened in my life since, this song reminds me of simple and happy days as a kid!
