Stardust | A-level Music Composition | A*

This is my A2 music composition I submitted for my A-level. I scored full marks for this composition so should hopefully be a good model for anyone looking for guidance. It's for the brief in which you had to compose the music to a trailer of a sci-fi film.

This was trickier than anticipated as you have to essentially include all the music that would've been used in the film and put them all together which makes it somewhat incoherent in places. Also, trailers these days are only about 2 minutes so for a piece of music that had to be something over 4 minutes I did what I could. Hope you enjoy!

I’m in Year 13 and still struggling a lot for ideas for my film composition, I feel the brief this year is really restricting... 😭 this is one of the best A-level compositions I’ve heard, you should definitely be a composer!

It was so brilliant. For example, the first section was special, have a very good sense of hierarchy. I felt deeply moved this young composer gets so deep inside into his music wants to say, as beats the music of the soul. It was unbelievable, he had a blazing idea that people literally couldn't understand. Because he added too many novel elements in his music, it's quite unique!

Composing a piece for full orchestra seems pretty ambitious but it is surprisingly well done! I would stick to my quartet plan in the coming academic year. It is a nice piece to listen to
