When I was a kid, we had a "worm bed" full of dirt and earthworms we used for fishing. There was a big king snake that lived underneath it. I remember mowing the yard, and having to stop and let the snake pass so I didn't run him over. He kept the rattle snakes, copperheads, and water moccasins away. We treated him like a pet. A guard "dog" to keep the dangerous snakes away.

To be honest unless a snake is in my house, my space, I'm going to leave them ALL alone. They've got their lives to live. I've got mine. I respect that.

How humans react to a snake's rattle: "Aw sht I best stay away."

How other snakes react: "I HEAR A DINNER BELL"

Bro just accepted his fate there at the end.
Damn.

In Texas a rattler flew under my rv in panic mode. A few seconds later, an Indigo followed. No wonder.

We love Indigos in Florida. They get huge but are very docile and feast on rattlers, cottonmouths and juvenile pythons.

Rattlesnakes are the nicest, they give you a warning when you get too close.

I think the fact it gives you a warning is what makes humans respect it

Every single summer I go to the lake in Wilson, KS. Without fail I always find a spectacled king with a rattler halfway down it's throat.

There were tons of Timber rattlers around my dads property growing up you would be shocked at how few of them actually rattled

I respect that the rattlesnake warns you off instead of immediately being a dick and biting you.

I saw a rattlesnake once in Mexico, or rather, I heard it before I saw it. Ever since then I have regarded rattlesnakes as the nice guys among snakes: they warn you that they are dangerous! And the nice guys always lose, don't they?

I always left black racers in West Virginia alone or placed them where I kept feed for live stock. Old timers refer to them as “Corn Snakes” because they’d protect the corn harvest from rats and birds and they’d protect home owners from venomous snakes😊

Rattlesnakes do not always warn you when you're too close and / or strike.

Damn, literally everything looks at them like spicy noodles

It’s like caimans in the Amazon. You would expect a crocodilian to be top dog, but they’ll get killed easily by anacondas, jaguars, giant otters, and even electric eels

Blue racers and Black racers are Florida’s best friend. They also go for cottonmouth snakes too 👍

I remember my grandfather found a rattlesnake on his land, and the same day, my uncle saved a California King Snake from his coworkers. We released it on my grandparents' land and the rattlesnake was never seen again. We released it on their land specifically to get rid of the rattlesnake, and it did the job.

As a black man who runs track, I can verify black racers love to eat rattlesnakes!
