What I'm curious about is, a friend of mine has gotten scammed on a very high value Ebay item aka sold items and got a return of empty boxes, he's filed a police report but the police have stated that they don't have enough resources to go after it (friend has his address) although they let him document it, and he has sufficient records from Ebay and the postal service that proves malicious intentions. Ebay saw this evidence and sided with my friend in the case and got to keep his money, but the thing is the buyer initiated a fraudulent credit card/bank chargeback that Ebay has no control over so my friend still lost this large sum of money. He's thinking of pursuing civil damages, lets say that goes through and evidence presented in court proves malicious intent from the buyer. Can that create a criminal case along side the civil case for the scammer involved, if sufficient evidence is presented during a civil suit?

What if I refuse to answer or show up to the Lawsuit or case filed against me for not paying up the debt, which my wife took through my account on my behalf?

Can I go to Jail for it?
Or can it turn to criminal case?

I'm getting sued over my mom saleing my sister's husband's cars that she brought to my parents property left them here for months we called them over and over to come get them no Answer so my mom sold them. Now thery filed a lawsuit against use for the price of the cars. I've hired a lawyer he's filed a motion to have it dismissed but if they still try to buck me and I'm found guilty I WILL NOT PAY. I will tell the court to put me in jail and keep me there until all of this is settled I'm prepared to go to jail I WILL NOT PAY. The court can not keep me in there forever. So I ask the question hiw long am I looking at? In jail because I will NOT pay if I'm found guilty. We called and called them to come and get the cars we gave them time to come get them.
