In this video I explore the topic of fitness landscape analysis for surrogate modeling. The tools of FLA can help objectively quantify the potential challenges of optimizating or modeling data. Using simplified examples in a computational notebook, the mechanics of how several types of FLA metrics work is discussed, such as Fitness Distance Correlation and Random Walks.
Surrogate modeling is an application of machine learning and this work was carried out as part of my research at the University of Victoria's Energy in Cities group.
