What The Hell Happened to Crash On The Run?

It's been a long time since Crash On The Run was updated, and a long time since the developers updated us on the future of the game. What's going on?

The annoying thing is with Crash on the Run right now in terms of state it is in is there is a missing coloured gem on The Great Gate and on the island map select, there is a question mark to reference that there will be more levels. Also, on Bandipedia I read that Madame Amberly and N. Trance were supposed to make a future appearance so I hope someday that will happen in the game, especially that there's even boss music for N. Trance in this game on YouTube.

Well as of 12/19/22 they're saying goodbye to crash on the run. Their statement in-game said they're shutting down and deleting the game in 2023 on February 16th. So go on and enjoy what you can, while you can. 😔

Subway Surfers came out in 2012 and is still the most downloaded game EVER. Crash on the Run is extremely similar to that and has so much potential. It for sure is for a certain audience, but a massive audience that is.

It would be really cool if you would start playing and streaming CTR again! I miss the days where we would play Guess The Character using the randomise feature, have chats about random crap, and maybe even play with you on stream (I didn't do this, as I had a PS4 and you had an Xbox)! It really brought the fans together and gave everyone a good laugh! So please, start streaming CTR again!

At first, before they change the hubworld, you could see the jetboard, jetpack and minecart covered in sheets, like it was something to release later and seemed to be exactly what you said, a much needed variety. Sadly we're never seeing them in action.

Man, I played this on release and it was fun for awhile, my highlight was that I made a guild named Rash C and it got filled quick, we ended up winning the first ever guild season or whatever it was called, good times😂

I hate how neglected CotR is in the meantime, especially since they promised run-towards-the-camera mode just like boulder stage in the console Crash games. CotR has potential to go way further!

I didn't mind the simple gameplay of Crash on the Run because it had some interesting innovations on a typical infinite runner, with the different levels and layouts, plus the resource management. What I don't understand is why they paused events to work on the game and then actively made it worse, removing all the things that made it unique.

Since Microsoft bought Activision back in January of this year, my best guess is Microsoft didn't see the game as lucrative and just had their development team halt all updates on it to possibly work on other projects. I would be shocked to see this game revived as we're already almost in 2023 and there has been radio silence, but hopefully they won't completely forget about Crash Bandicoot.
