I laughed so hard at your realization that Vanilla Ice sampled this.
Knox, you should definitely dig into David Bowie. He was one of the most iconic artists ever, a master at reinventing himself, and always fearless in whatever he did. As far as a first song to check out, I would recommend the official video for Space Oddity (the song is from 1969). However, I think a great introduction to David Bowie is the clip of his interview on MTV in 1983, in which he calls out MTV for not playing the music of black artists. It's titled "David Bowie addresses the apparent racism on MTV (1983)." He is an artist well worth your time.

Ice paid the price for this base line, after he was sued.

Sounds like you need to go down the David Bowie rabbit hole. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

David Bowie also called out MTV for not showing black rappers videos, there's a great interview where he nails them over it. He was such an extraordinary performer and a very insightful human too. His predictions about the internet were very prescient!

It's David Bo-wee 😂 this was never performed live, it's Freddie at Wembly and David at Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert after Freddie died, it's amazing too.

Queen and David Bowie met in Montreux, they both recorded music at the same studio and they came up with the song ..
The queen bassist John Deacon came up with the riff..
That video is from two different concerts
One is Queens in Wembley in 1986
David Bowie's part was at the memorial concert after Freddie passed away that was held at Webley in April of 1992
Someone edited the parts and that video is the result ❤

David Bowie and Annie Lennox sang this with Queen at the Freddy Mercury Tribute concert after Freddie died. that concert was so moving, I sobbed. You should check it out, Knox. George Michael sang Someone to Love. So many great artists participated.

Gotta react to Queen's "Show Must Go On". One the band's best ones and one of Freddie Mercury's last songs he recorded before he passed away from aids.

Can’t get over how adorable you are when reacting to Classics we grew up with!!

Bass line courtesy of John Deacon. He's so overlooked really. Not only did he write some fantastic songs but he designed and built one of Brian May's amplifiers - the Deaky Amp.

I knew I would love your initial reaction to the intro bassline of this and I was not disappointed. If I remember I think Vanilla Ice didn't get full permission to use that sample and he tried to pass it off as his own but no one believed him. It's just too iconic.

You should check out Freddie singing the song "Barcelona" with soprano Montserrat Caballe. Another side of his vocal range

If you haven’t already, I highly suggest reacting, listening to Queen another one bites the dust. Another iconic baseline. either the official music video, or live in Montreal 1981. It won’t disappoint.

David Bowie is also the goblin king in ‘the labyrinth’ (amazing movie and I recommend if you haven’t seen it)

I love you, Knox; how have you gone your entire life without hearing of this song and, more specifically, David Bowie?
David Bowie has been the inspiration for many musicians today, including Ren.
