PLOT: In 1836, the Mexican army, led by General Santa Anna, is invading Texas. Hoping to create a diversion for Santa Anna's forces, General Sam Houston (Richard Boone) orders Colonel William B. Travis (Laurence Harvey), joined by Colonels Jim Bowie (Richard Widmark) and Davy Crockett (John Wayne), to lead a small, heroic band of American and Texican fighters in a resistance battle at the Alamo mission. The carnage at the Alamo further spurs the Republic of Texas toward freedom.

John Wayne directed and starred in The Alamo (1960), and it received a Best Picture Oscar Nomination. It's a fantastic movie and the best movie about The Alamo, in my humble opinion. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

I know nothing of the real Mexican Army of 1836, but this movie certainly made them look impressive and suggested fine fighting qualities, so it honors their memory just fine.

I'm no military strategist, but the Alamo was just a mission, not a Fort, why waste men in a frontal attack when you could simply pound it to rubble with cannons?

Years ago I was for business in San Antonio, staying in Marriott hotel. One evening, having nothing to do I went out nearby and suddenly I show " Alamo ".It was a very good surprise for me to see such historical place. RIP to all heroes foughting for their freedom. Greetings from Athens Greece 🇬🇷!

Esta película y estos grandes actores, pusieron algo que ninguna película de esta tragedia lo hizo. Emoción, intensidad del ser humano, amor en algunas situaciones, miedo y tezón al enfrentar a la muerte. Humildad y sinceridad de aquellas personas que murieron en la vida real. A mi me hace llorar, por lo tan bien lograda en esos ámbitos. Por supuesto es una opinión personal. Excelente producción
