Montreux Jazz Festival 2024 – Official Aftermovie

The 58th MJF hosted sixteen days of musical celebration in the heart of Montreux. Organised outside the Convention Centre which usually hosts the Festival’s main stages, this special edition rose to the occasion with its breathtaking Lake Stage constructed on the surface of Lake Geneva, and the intimate Casino Stage.

The Montreux Jazz Festival takes place for two weeks every summer in Switzerland, drawing 250,000 music lovers to the shores of Lake Geneva. Since 1967, the Festival has celebrated all genres of music and generated countless legendary performances. Artists who have graced the stage of Montreux include Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, Prince, Bob Dylan, Lauryn Hill, Kendrick Lamar, Leonard Cohen, Marvin Gaye, Miles Davis, Nina Simone and many more.

I have been your guest in Montreux for years. I was able to see some concerts and absolutely TOP ARTISTS. THANK YOU very much for that!!! But this year I was disappointed except for a few highlights. The lake stage was built too high and the monitoring in front of the nose made it almost impossible to see the musicians from the front rows. The sound in the front rows was NOT good!!! Except for STING, because he gave US like a private concert. Absolutely amazing. THANK YOU to the helpers in the alley between the stage and the audience, you were really great!
And now for this video. I think it's really cheeky that this vid came out early and the content does NOT include all the musicians. Maybe there are legal reasons for this, or it's just an early shot from a beginner who was under pressure and perhaps wanted to go on vacation. I find it oversaturated with certain musicians and, as already described, it shows the trend of young participants and viewers. It also reflects the trend of what goes on after the concerts...PARTY PARTY PARTY, and so over time I will probably NOT visit Montreux anymore...The spirit of Nobs is clearly missing: And so the myth is probably slowly but surely dying Nobs/Montreux and the musicians. What a pity-a pity-a pity!!!
