La pellicola, incentrata sulla biografia del più grande
folk singer americano, Woodrow Wilson "Woody" Guthrie,
nato a Okemah il 14 Luglio 1912 e prematuramente scomparso
a New York il 3 Ottobre 1967 a causa di una grave malattia ereditaria,
aveva come soundtrack la celebre This Land is Your Land.
Se però quella era la colonna sonora che meglio di ogni altra
si adattava alla scenografia del deserto di desolate speranze
umane che affollava le polverose strade degli States all'epoca
della grande depressione e negli anni immediatamente successivi,
questa ninnananna è invece il canto aedico del nomade protagonista.
In realtà al contrario di homeless, senza casa, tetto, fissa dimora
o più comunemente barbone, il termine hobo non ha un sinonimo
corrispondente nel nostro vocabolario, non un semplice randagio
ne il classico clochard nel vero senso della parola, bensì il girovago
che si adatta a fare tutti i mestieri per procurarsi da vivere.
E così di corsa fra treni presi al volo, lavori trovati e amori rubati,
una vita veloce e stentata mordeva le terga e lasciava a malapena
il fiato per una canzone dolce amara, giusto un soffio per ricordare
che sebbene nessuno sappia come funzionino le cose lassù in cielo,
di certo quì sulla terra solo a vagabondi e fuorilegge è concesso
godere qualche attimo di seppur sofferta libertà.
Oltre l'indubbia valenza artistica e l'importante tematica sociale
il film vanta un primato nella storia della tecnica cinematografica
in quanto per le riprese delle scene in movimento venne utilizzata
per la prima volta la steadycam azionata proprio dalle mani sapienti
del suo stesso ideatore, Garret Brown.

This song brings tears to my eyes. My dad left his home on the farm in WV in 1932, during the depression, and bummed around for a year before finding work in the Kansas oil fields. He said he hopped hundreds of freight trains, jungled up too many times to count and said he always tried to make a contribution to the Mulligan Stew before dipping some out for himself. I love books, real paper books you hold in your hand. Because of this I saved all my text books from university. I am CONVINCED I can pull a Physics or Math book at random, open to a random page and Emmylou could sing the words and it would sound BEAUTIFUL. Hell she could SING the instructions on a can of spray paint and it would sound like an Angels song

im not usually into this type of music I mean some songs of these type I like but not many what really got to me about this song were the words I like the words of the song cause the lyrics are really deep and the story line was interesting its a nice song my mom is a listens to Emmylou Harris quite alot
