New York City and the world remembers rock icon Tina Turner

The legendary star died on Wednesday after a long illness at the age of 83. CBS2's Dick Brennan looks back on Turner's extraordinary career.

im still shook. i tried to listen to the music immediately after hearing the news. But, im just not ready yet somehow, but her songs were there for me in my teens and early 20s, you know when an artists music saves you, inspires you, keeps you going, gives you hope? TINE was one of those people for me. I loved her beyond measure. RIP Queen!!! She stood in a class all her own!!!!

At 54 I have sooo many memories of Tina. Seeing her on TV when I was a kid in the 70s performing Proud Mary. Her 80s hits and that Live Aid performance with Jagger. Then a GTE company trip to Hong Kong around 1993 for the highest producers with a theme song of "Simply the Best". Then a few years later my wife and I seen "Whats Love Got to Do with It" on the big screen.
