I’m on Day 15 post TKR. Best decision I ever made! First two weeks are rough but got through it. Feeling great

Do the knee exercises before your surgery. I'm 80 years old and doing my exercises was soooo beneficial to my recovery. Therapist could tell by my initial evaluation!

I don’t mean to scare anybody the worst part is over and I’m starting to walk and I’m feeling much better. The knee is still Bending at 79°. but I can feel that the arthritis is gone. I can put pressure on it walk on it and it feels good. We just got to get over the first two months I live alone and many people had to come in to help me through the day and through the night that like I said the worst is over and it’s feeling better

That looks just like me today 15 days out. The hardest 15 days I've ever lived thru! I really admire people who breeze thru this surgery. Me not a I much. So much swelling hard to get my knee to bend!

I had a right revision knee replacement back in March.
After all my physio, my R.O.M. wasn't where it was supposed to be (35, 40).

3 weeks ago, I had to have a knee Manipulation done.
Now my R.O.M. is between 90 & 95. I'm still going to physio as well.

I'm scheduled for my first knee to be done January 30. I hope to do well as the responses I've read from you all.
Then once healed, I need to do the other. Just hope to ve able to get on with my life without being limited.

People, I hate to say this, but I’ll be totally honest. I had mine done 10 months and some change ago. I’ve been fully functional since the first month or so, but to this day I still have some numbness and minor pain and swelling and the thigh is still a little gimpy. But I’d take this over the pain I had before the surgery!

When my knee started itching at the end of the first week I assumed it was because I was healing. Nope! When l removed the ace bandage l saw l was having a reaction to the glue used to close my incision and the glue on the strip tape covering my dressing.

Luckily my niece is a dermatologist and l sent her pictures of my knee.
It was swelling more, very itchy, red, very warm to the touch. She told me to remove the dressing and send her another picture. She told me l was experiencing a bad case of hives but my incision looked fine & l could wait until Monday morning to call my surgeon (of course it was Friday evening when this started). Her instructions were to get a tube of otc hydrocortisone and apply to the hives but not to the incision. After applying the cream cover the incision with a layer of Vaseline, place nonstick gauze pads over the vaseline and rewrap my knee with the ace bandage. She also said to start taking Benadryl.

I saw my surgeon Monday morning, told him what Katie told me to do. He was not worried about the reaction to the glue at all and told me my incision looked fine, continue using the hydrocortisone and Benadryl and to keep my 2 wk follow up next week.

I knew l was allergic to the glue on steri strips and expected a reaction to the tape covering my dressing, but did not expect such a severe reaction to the glue used to close my incision!

A lot of swelling from what I can see. For both my knee replacements done at the same time I used a lot of ice and it helped me immensely. I was icing it every hour or as much as I could for several weeks after the surgery.

R knee done 8-5-15 7:00 AM walked out at 4:30 PM same day with a walker, only took a Tylenol occasionally in PT 2 days later, never looked back. Worked really hard on bending via stationary bike, balloon and sliding platform while on back. L done 4-20-16 and same experience. One has to push yourself to stay on course for bending. I love my knees and the end result. Used Dr Derek Johnson Parker, Colorado

9 weeks post TKR. Had to get a MUA a week ago and still can only bend to 105°. Knee is still very tight and sore. It's been a rough 9 weeks. Hopefully it gets better with time
