Goosebumps alert: Dr Amir Khalil reunited with elephant Kaavan

#FreeKaavan 🐘: Rescuing the world's loneliest elephant from Pakistan together with superstar Cher and partner NGO Free the Wild in 2020 was one of the biggest missions in FOUR PAWS history.

A special thank you also to long-time FOUR PAWS supporter, American businessman Eric S. Margolis, without him this mission would not have been possible.

Due to various obstacles, it took 18 months for the reunion of Dr Amir Khalil and his patient to take place at his new home in the Cambodia Wildlife Sanctuary.

In this video, you can be part of the moment Dr Khalil sees his friend again - and how the elephant reacts to seeing his savior. Will Kaavan be happy to see him or will he send him away? Spoiler alert: goosebumps are guaranteed!

Kaavan looks so much more rested, at peace...like he knows he will never be harmed again. Thank you all for this, THANK YOU so much. And as much as Cher has accomplished and done in her life (btw, if you're ever curious about all her professional awards, humanitarian achievements, music, television & media success, look her up...she's pretty bad a$$) stuff like this makes me love AND respect her 1000 times more. Also a shout out for help is the little lone female elephant held in a concrete cell in paphos zoo Cyprus. Disgusting that these beautiful, sentient and social animals are legally allowed to be kept in zoos. Please help her.

The feat of bringing this lonely elephant to sanctuary was a monumental task, and I applaud 4Paws for their vision, funding and pushing in every way possible to make Kaavan a happy and content elephant. I cried a bit through the film, and just want to thank ever single person who was there to make it all happen. Everyone who cares about Kaavan, needs to support the release of Lucy from the Edmonton Zoo in Canada. She is alone there and very unhealthy. She needs to be in a warm place with other elephants. Multiple sanctuaries are willing to take her. Edmonton will not let her go.
