I remember when my bro was talking to me about a trip he had just the week prior. He had a super rocky relationship with his deadbeat father where despite them both wanting to be closer, his father was just never in the right mindset to be there for him (due to drugs and trauma). As he told me that his dad just wasn’t going to be a father figure for him, seeing my friend just say that with a straight face meaning that it was simply reality for him, I broke down crying right there. He is a great guy that decided that he wouldn’t let his father’s actions dictate his life, but still I couldn’t help but cry knowing that he endured everything so much that he had to put up this face that made it seem like everything was okay.
In that same way, Nick isn’t ever going to show his feelings, so if Fanfan can cry for him… maybe somehow he can heal from that.
